Data and Risk Analysis

 

D&A's data analysis personnel are expert in the statistical analysis of accident, failure, maintenance, and operating data. We have developed custom databases using customer-supplied data specifically tailored to our clients needs. D&A has performed reliability and risk analyses of freight car roller bearings, textile processing equipment, and consumer electronics products using custom-built databases. We have monitored and analyzed process plant utility consumption and prepared recommendations for plant modifications and upgrades, and for new equipment purchases based on our optimization analyses.

D&A staff have utilized the FARS (Fatal Accident Reporting System) database, the NASS (National Accident Sampling System) database, and several state accident databases in our analyses of traffic accidents and vehicle design. Our staff also accesses the NFIRS (National Fire Incident Reporting System), the CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission), and the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) databases in our investigations. This statistical information is particularly useful in the analysis of alleged product design defects. D&A staff have utilized NFIRS to perform statistical analyses of gas station fires, consumer electronics fires, and lawn equipment fires. NHTSA and CPSC data is used by D&A to identify or evaluate alleged vehicle and product defects through the analysis of product recalls, consumer complaints, technical service bulletins, and other publicly-available data.
